Why this screen exists
Engines are not copies of one another. The same question, asked the same way on the same day, produces different shortlists in ChatGPT, Perplexity and Google's AI surfaces, because each reaches for different sources and weighs them differently. An average across engines hides exactly the thing worth knowing.
The grid puts every prompt against every engine and colours the pass rate. What you look for is not the full cells — those are already working — but a row that is strong everywhere and empty in one column. That pattern almost always points at a source that one engine trusts and the others ignore, which is a much cheaper thing to fix than a whole content programme.
Which engines you measure is a budget decision, and the grid makes it an informed one. Adding an engine multiplies every prompt you track, so most teams start with the two their buyers actually use, watch for a while, and add the third when a column starts mattering. Nothing is estimated for an engine you did not run.
Every stage of the buyer journey needs questions: assistants rarely name brands on awareness questions and often do on purchase ones. A healthy set covers the funnel evenly and is ~90% category questions.

Engine searches per prompt
The searches engines ran on their own before answering (query fan-out). An untracked search is a question the engine is already asking about your category — the cheapest prompt to add. Only engines that disclose it count; the rest are marked "undisclosed", never guessed.
Six screens carry the whole job: read the answer, score it, find the sources behind it, and turn the gap into work someone can pick up.

Thoughts on Rixe
“
I think the most important test for tools in this area is whether the data they provide can actually be turned into action. Knowing that a brand's AI visibility is low isn't enough on its own. You need to see the possible reasons behind it and understand which topics to focus on. Rixe's approach of combining sources, competitors, and brand visibility is meaningful in this regard. A useful analysis category is emerging that marketing teams can use.
“
Honestly, I would have wondered if there was a need for a new SEO tool with so many out there, but Rixe addresses a slightly different issue. It's not about Google ranking, but visibility in AI answers. This difference is important.
“
Especially interesting for SaaS companies. It's important to know which brands stand out when users ask AI for alternative products.
Frequently asked
That the engine did not name you on that prompt. The filled rings are reassurance; the empty ones are the work, because each is a specific question a buyer asks where a competitor is answering instead.
Yes. The same prompt can be run and compared side by side in two languages, which is where most brands find that their home-market and English numbers are two different things.
That the model did not name you for that prompt on the last run. An empty row is a question you lose everywhere; an empty column is one engine that does not know you.
Because the wins are already working. The grid is laid out so the holes are the visible shape — that is the work queue.
Last run, with the date on hover. A cell that has not changed in weeks is drawn differently from one that flipped yesterday.
Yes, by topic or funnel stage, and the grid collapses to theme level. A whole theme going empty is a much louder signal than one prompt.
Three states, not two: named, cited without being named, and absent. Collapsing the middle state into 'no' is how tools overstate a problem.
Every engine you have enabled, in the same grid. Adding one later backfills nothing, but the column starts filling from the next run.
Yes — sorting by movement puts the prompts that flipped this week at the top, which is usually the only list anyone acts on.
Not a full grid. Some prompts belong to a competitor's product name, and winning those is neither likely nor useful; the target is the prompts your buyers ask.

Three numbers, one screen. Enough to know which way the week went.
