What is actually shipping inside assistants

Sponsored placements inside assistant answers are real and are being tested in public, but the surface is moving quickly and the labelling is not yet consistent between products or markets. That combination is exactly the one where a confident number does the most damage.

So what this page reports is what the measurement can see: whether an answer carried a placement at all, on which questions, and how that changed week to week. What it does not report is a spend figure, an impression estimate or a market share, because none of those can be observed from outside.

The practical consequence for a brand is unchanged for now: the reliable way into an assistant's answer is still to be the thing it wants to cite. If that changes — if placement becomes a dependable, labelled, measurable channel — this page will say so, with the date the measurement started.

It might not be a platform every company needs immediately, but it's a tool to consider for brands that care about acquiring customers through AI.

It's clear that a new area is emerging in digital marketing. We used to talk about brands being discoverable in search engines; now we're asking the same question for AI systems. It's striking that Rixe is one of the products addressing this change early on. Competitor analysis, visibility tracking, and examining which topics brands are associated with are complementary features. I find it particularly interesting how this data can be linked to content strategies. In the long run, we might see AI visibility among the standard metrics marketing teams track.

AI search is becoming increasingly important. I think it makes sense for Rixe to focus on this area. Especially seeing how competitors are positioned in AI answers could be valuable for marketing teams.

Sponsored placements have started appearing in assistant surfaces, and the shape keeps changing. This page tracks what is actually live rather than what was announced.

There is no results page to sit above. The placement is attached to an answer, which means the context is a recommendation rather than a list of options.

No. The recommendation is generated from sources; what is for sale is the space around it, and the label says which is which.

Less than in search, and it varies by programme. Assume intent and context rather than the audience segments you are used to.

A later one, usually. Somebody asking an assistant to compare options is closer to a decision than somebody typing a broad keyword.

With a tagged landing URL and the assisted-session view, because the referrer from assistant traffic is often thin or absent.

Worth measuring now, worth testing where you already lose the organic answer on a commercial prompt. Testing broadly this early buys data, not demand.

Volume and labelling. When enough buyers arrive through an assistant and the sponsored slot is clearly marked, it becomes a channel; the panel tells you when that is true in your market.

Some categories are restricted, and the rules differ by programme and market. Check before budgeting: a restriction is cheaper to discover now than after a campaign is built.

Point the ad at the page that answers the same question the assistant was asked. A landing page that answers something else wastes both the click and the citation.
